Life as an intern - part three
Our intern Kelly gives us her final thoughts on her time at Roselle.
Five months ago, I started my internship at Roselle. I still remember my first day and I was so nervous! When I finally got to the office, everyone was extremely welcoming and I knew this was going to be fun. Coming from the Netherlands, it’s very hard to understand accents sometimes, and it was so nice to have help from everyone in the office.
I felt that my main draw back was going to be my language barrier and initially this made me nervous undertaking tasks from my colleagues, but to support me and help with my personal development, it was rectified when Roselle offered to fund me through English course twice a week, for 10 weeks. It really helped me a lot and I completed it with a certificate for advanced level. I was very proud of myself and thankful that Roselle gave me the opportunity.
During my internship I have gained more confidence about myself and my work. I have enjoyed the positive happy environment of the office and friendly employees. Roselle made me feel a valued part of the team.
Being a part of this organisation has giving me great insight into event management and the every day planning process, that leads up to an event. After 4 months hard work I went to my first event with Helen Batten, Event Manager. I learned so much from all the event managers during the events and will take these learning’s with me in my next challenge.
With the experience of three events in two weeks, I knew this is what I want to do after my university course. My favourite aspect of event planning is being part of the creative process from the idea to execution, the rush, the stress, the excitement and delivering a quality product for Roselle’s clients. I love being on-site at an event, seeing all the attendee’s smiling away and having a great time.
Roselle is a very friendly company and a great company to work for. Every day in the office is very different. Everyone works really hard but is able to have a laugh and some fun too. They’ve made me feel comfortable in such a short space of time. Not only is the team chock-full of amazing and talented people, they are all full of life and have an unbeatable passion for planning and managing events. Everyone was so helpful during my internship. It’s just a great company to be part of.
I always wanted to work with an events company to see how I might enjoy organising full-time and Roselle has been the perfect place for me to learn. I would like to say “thank you” to everyone of the team. I have felt like a member of the team from day one. This internship has been a learning experience from start to finish. I leave a much wiser person knowing I still have a lot to learn. My five months have flown by. I will cherish the memories that I have made at Roselle!
